A quartet of standouts, graduate student Kelyn Fillmore, senior Fallon Bevino, junior Hailey Desrosiers and sophomore Katelyn Christian will lead the Sacred Heart softball team for the 2018 season as team captains, Co-Head Coach Pam London has announced.
“Though we have many leaders on our roster, each of these student-athletes brings something unique to our team. They have a special passion for their teammates and our program,” London said.
In Fillmore’s eight appearances last season, she stepped to the plate 23 times, picking up 11 hits and nine RBI’s, holding a .478 batting average and a .739 slugging percentage.
As a junior, Bevino was featured in 43 games, starting at first base. She picked up 30 hits, ending the season with a .240 batting average while posting 19 RBI’s, slotting her second highest on the team.
Desrosiers took the field for all 51 games last season, starting at shortstop. She finished with the third highest batting average with a .291, and second highest with 43 hits on the team.
Christian appeared in all 51 games last season, primarily as a designated hitter. Her rookie campaign was highlighted by her NEC All-Tournament Team recognition after going 4-for-10 in the NEC Tournament, picking up two RBI’s and four doubles.
“They have all led by example and we know they will continue to do so,” London said.
The Pioneers’ 2018 season launch takes place at the Chattanooga Challenge beginning Friday, Feb. 16 against Indiana State and Tennessee State.
