College of Nursing Appoints New Associate Dean for Online Programs

Bauce brings impressive history of health-care leadership to role

Assistant Professor MSN Online Programs Karen Bauce, who has a long history in health-care consulting and administration, is the new associate dean for online programs at Sacred Heart University’s College of Nursing.

In this role, Bauce will oversee all aspects of the College of Nursing’s online graduate programs. She will manage curriculum, academic standing policies and procedures, program evaluations, faculty development and all accreditation requirements and documents. Bauce will continue to teach, as well.

“Karen has strong leadership and administrative skills,” said Mary Alice Donius, dean of the College of Nursing. “Her passion and commitment to SHU Online programs, faculty and students make her a great fit for the college’s leadership team.”

“Since joining SHU four years ago, I have a growing appreciation for what a special community this is,” Bauce said. “In the College of Nursing, I am fortunate to work with accomplished nurse educators and scholars who are committed to excellence in teaching and the development of each student. I am excited to be part of a team working with Dean Donius to establish a premiere nursing program that prepares students for contemporary nursing practice and their future roles as nurse leaders. Bauce earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Connecticut, her master’s in public administration from New York University and her doctorate in nursing practice from Oakland University. She holds nurse executive, advanced certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has an impressive history of leadership positions in large health-care systems in New York City.
