Places 19th out of 186 fundraising teams

Sacred Heart’s women’s ice hockey team took part in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Fairfield County in September, raising $3,700 for the cause.

For the past two years, SHU’s women’s ice hockey team has dedicated itself to this effort and is currently 19th out of 186 teams in fundraising for the 2016 walk. The walk has raised $358,702.55 so far this year.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds, not only for Alzheimer’s research, but for care and support for people with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, along with their caregivers. Last year, the local fundraising walk was in the Top 30 Walks out of 600 nationwide.
