Seventy-five percent of SHU’s student-athletes — 603 in total — finished the semester with a 3.0 GPA or better. In fact, 250 student-athletes made Dean’s List with a 3.6 or more, and 25 achieved a perfect 4.0.
The women’s golf team led the way with a team GPA of 3.62, while the men’s tennis team ranked highest of SHU’s men’s programs with 3.48.
Student-athletes also recorded almost 5,000 hours of community service last semester. The women’s bowling team averaged 28.04 hours per member, and women’s soccer averaged 21.2 hours per player.
Sacred Heart is a member of the 10-team Division I Northeast Conference. The University sponsors 32 varsity sports, and it is one of only a small handful of private colleges in New England to offer such a diverse assortment of NCAA athletic programs. It competes in 22 sports in the Northeast Conference, winning NEC Commissioners’ Cup for Athletic Excellence on five occasions. In addition, student-athletes have earned four NEC Building Community Awards since 2011 and earned the league’s Institutional GPA award in 2015.
